Adult Spanish Abroad - Jun 3rd - Jun 10th
Heredia, Costa Rica

Heredia, which is on the outskirts of San Jose is located in the Central Valley, a fertile upland basin 3,773 ft. above sea level in the heart of Costa Rica. The valley itself is surrounded by three majestic volcanoes, the largest of which is Irazu. On the hillsides and volcanoes surrounding San Jose you will find quaint little villages, rolling pastures, small farms, and vast coffee plantations. In the basin itself, lies the San Jose metro area. To some, the city is noisy and congested. To most, San Jose has a distinctive charm and feel to it. The city is home to an extensive collection of museums, theaters, great restaurants, bars, discos, and of course, neighborhood markets. Above all, the warmth and hospitality of the locals (ticos) make a stay in Costa Rica, and especially in San Jose a memorable experience.

Salamanca lies on a plateau by the Tormes River and is one of the most spectacular Renaissance cities in Europe. Through the centuries, the sandstone buildings have gained an exquisite golden glow, which has given Salamanca the nickname "La Dorada", the Golden City. Salamanca is large enough to be able to offer the advantages of a real city, but at the same time it keep the intimacy and charm of a small town. This has helped to make Salamanca an enormously popular destination for people from all over the world.

Adult Study Abroad - Aug 12th - Aug 19th
Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen is one of the fastest growing and most fun towns in the Caribbean. An international mix of fun loving travelers come here to party, enjoy the beaches and just generally immerse themselves in the tropical splendor of it all. "Playa" as it's known to the locals, is in the middle of the Riviera Maya in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico's Caribbean vacationland. This place is tons of fun with amazing beaches, great beach vacation accommodations and the ferry to Cozumel which runs numerous trips daily. There are taxis everywhere and a couple bus terminals for connections to Riviera Maya vacation resort towns and other parts of Mexico. Playa del Carmen is only 45 minutes from Tulum ruins, or Cancun. It's central location makes it convenient to all the sights & adventures on Mexico's tropical Caribbean coastline.

Culinary / Culture (Viva Mexico!) - Sep 2nd - Sep 9th
Mexico City / Oaxaca / Puebla, Mexico

Long before the arrival of Europeans, Mexico was home to the great Maya, Aztec and Zapotec civilizations. These peoples had a well developed agriculture all their own. Staples included corn, peppers, beans, avocados, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, jicama, chayote and other squashes. With the arrival of Spanish conquistadores in the 16th century, Spanish cuisine and ingredients were introduced. Beef, cheese, cream and bread entered into the mix, and there began a slow fusion of the two cuisines. Today's Mexican cooking maintains deep roots in the Aztec and Maya past while making use of the vast array of new ingredients and methods available since colonization.

Oaxaca, Mexico

Oaxaca is a beautiful colonial city located a little over 300 miles south of Mexico City. The city owes its fame to the beauty and harmony of its architecture, the richness of its cultural traditions, the wide variety of its typical foods, and its soft temperate climate, that is spring-like throughout the year. Its name comes from the Indian word Huaxyácal. In Oaxaca you will find an incredible mix of both Spanish and indigenous cultures.
